Here, Mike has retouched an already pretty good provided photo (left). Then Mike placed her in a seamless, but completely "invented" environment. The middle ground was created from items Mike had in his studio, a column, a table lamp, and lace curtains. Mike scanned-in photos of; a wood floor, a window and an outdoor scene for the scene behind the curtains. (The walls are merely painted in with flat colors.) It creates a totally believable, homogenous scene which would cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars to stage. Also note that the feather directon has been reversed to point back to model's face. |
